What is American Blend?<\/strong><\/p>\n

American Blend is the term used to designate a mixture of certain tobaccos, lets say its a recipe from which the best known of tobacco mixture is obtained. This mixture is the mixture used for the best known tobacco brands worldwide: Marlboro, Chersterfield, Lucky Strike, Winston, Camel, etc.<\/p>\n

It is named American blend because it was popularized in the United States.<\/p>\n

What is the recipe?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The American Blend mixture is composed of the three main types of tobacco<\/strong>: Virginia, Burley and Oriental tobacco.<\/p>\n

Each brand has its own recipe and, of course, is kept secret. These are usually the percentages of each tobacco:<\/p>\n

Virginia: around 70%<\/p>\n

Burley: between 20% and 30%<\/p>\n

Oriental: between 5% and 10%<\/p>\n

What does each tobacco do?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Virginia tobacco gives soft aromas and flavors but intense in the mix.<\/p>\n

Burley tobacco adds much flavor but little aroma.<\/p>\n

Oriental tobacco provides a characteristic taste and gives consistency to the mixture.<\/p>\n

Although American Blend mixture is the best known, there are many other mixtures<\/strong> such as Virginia Blend mixture (very popular in Britain and other Commonwealth countries) or Oriental Blend mixture (widely used for pipe tobacco).<\/p>\n
