How to taste a cigar?

In the world of cigars as in many others, Cigar Tastings have become very fashionable and the taster has gained much importance.
However, you dont need to be a Sommelier to taste and evaluate them according to your own criteria. We will give a basic understanding so you know what aspects you should contemplate in doing so. In this way you can evaluate the cigars that you try and have your own tasting notes.

Layer
The layer is the most visible element of a cigar its what surrounds it. You will see differences in colour, thickness, touch (rough, smooth, wrinkled) and the overall finish (more or less compressed).

Aroma
Depending on the composition the aroma may vary, what you should do is smell the aroma of the cigar before and after lighting it up. There are aromas more durable than others and the intensity may vary for each one.

Taste
The taste is the most important aspect. It is important not to depend too much on the taste on the first few puffs. The taste may be more or less intense. Also you may note other hints of  sweetness, spices and toasting.

Strength
The Strength depends on the leaves that are used to produce the cigar. There are three types:
Volado (the weakest): strength 1
Seco (most important for aroma): strength 2
Ligero (most important for flavor): strength 3

Puff
For the puff to be correct, it should be long but not too much or with too little force.

Combustion
In this respect the speed of combustion is evaluated, if the ring is uniformed, the shape of the ash (it must be flat, retaining the cigar form).
